Wood Table Facelift

On a recent trip with Brooke to Deseret Industries (DI), the local goodwill store, I came across this little beauty.

Black table with flowers

Brooke and I have caught the bug to decorate our front porches, but we’ll tell you about that later.

Actually it didn’t look nearly as cute when I first saw it at DI.  In fact I completely overlooked it the first time I saw it due to the used-to-be-in-style-I-think painting on it.  This is what I originally saw.

White and purple table

Someone a few years ago probably had a wonderful time painting purple lilac type thingies on it to match their floral-everything decor, but thank heavens that is out of style now and thank heavens they didn’t bother repainting it themselves, instead donating it for charity.

I paid $10, which is a little higher than I would normally go, but I justified it to myself that all the money goes to humanitarian causes.  With that in mind, and seeing how good it looks now, I almost feel guilty I didn’t pay more…almost.

Two coats of black spray paint later and I have my new front porch table.  The spray paint was around $3 a can but was used for other things like the baskets also in this picture, so I’d estimate about $1.50 in spray paint cost.Porch table on porchSo for a total cost of $11.50 and about three minutes of spray painting, I now have a great little table for my front porch.  I love my new planters/baskets too.  They were other DI finds I’ll tell about later.

If you have a fall front porch decorating idea, I’d love to know about it.  Put a link in the comments or send me an email.  If we get enough I might do a link party.
